Physical media is dying out. DVD sales have dropped beneath digital sales and in this Ramblaholic I ponder the ramifications for the future of media preservation. When you buy digital or stream you are not the owner of that media. DRM, streaming only and other methods of rights owners control is taking away the concept of owning your media, you buy access, period. When that access is not possible or the rights change hands or the host simply can’t be bothered to look after it anymore you will lose it…..
